Why everyone keeps coming back.

Restaurante MI RANCHITO, nestled on Carretera Dolores a San Miguel de Allende in the charming town of Dolores Hidalgo, Guanajuato, is a true gem for lovers of authentic Mexican cuisine. This welcoming eatery captures the essence of home-cooked meals, serving vibrant, deeply flavorful dishes that resonate with tradition and warmth.

From the moment you step in, you’re embraced by a cozy, rustic atmosphere where the owner and his wife—the talented chef—treat every guest like family. The sense of genuine hospitality enriches the dining experience, making each visit feel special and personal. While the pace might be a bit leisurely, as noted by satisfied customer Ana Isabel Hernandez, the anticipation only heightens the satisfaction when the food arrives. Every dish is worth the wait.

The highlight here is undoubtedly the exceptional quality and freshness of ingredients. Guests like Heidy Muñoz praise the natural and fresh preparation of each plate, emphasizing the true home-style flavors expertly crafted in the kitchen. The menu features standout specialties such as the incomparable mixiotes, a must-try traditional dish bursting with complex, smoky layers of flavor that linger on the palate, recommended fervently by patrons like Carlos Alberto Hernandez.

Complementing the food is the warm friendliness of the owners, who often engage directly with diners, creating a down-to-earth and intimate dining environment. This connection is mirrored in the homemade mezcal crafted by the owner himself, a unique touch that offers guests a taste of regional heritage in liquid form—as appreciated by Gustavo Jimenez.

Whether you're craving a comforting plate of Mexican classics or searching for a place that feels like a second home—MI RANCHITO delivers an authentic, soulful culinary journey. Expect dishes that awaken your senses with bold spices, fresh produce, and the unmistakable love woven into every bite. For food enthusiasts traveling through Guanajuato, this restaurant is not just a meal stop but a memorable cultural experience worth seeking out.

Wonderful owner, clean and airy, this Roadside restaurant has a surprisingly big menu. Excellent food I particularly love his Aztec soup and his arrachera. This place is on the edge of an artichoke field which is really pretty. Although there are no artichokes on the menu because the owner tells me the girls don't know how to cook it! It's also next door to the Arte San Gabriel ceramic showroom which is a great visit as well.
